The Centre was
officially opened by The Hon Henry Tsang, Chairman of
East Asia Business Council of NSW, Prof. Ken McKinnon,
Chairman, Australian Press Council and Dr Mark Bradley,
CEO of ATPI in 2000.
The Centre holds media conferences, background briefings,
seminars and workshops, exhibitions, specific media
programmes and media tours. The Centre also provides
information and assistance for local and visiting journalists
from Asian countries.
The Centre provides
a full range of professional services to international
media and companies. This includes Asia press service,
media monitoring, translation, multi-media production
and services to media organisations visiting Australia.
The language
services provided by the Asian Media Centre include
Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese
and Indonesian.
The Asian Media
Centre, located at the Australian Technology Park, is
an official media partner of ATPI Pty Ltd which represents
a consortium of four of Australia's leading Universities.
These include The University of New South Wales, The
University of Sydney, The University of Technology,
Sydney and The Australian National University
Asian Media Centre is also an official media partner of ABC Asia Pacific (now called Australia Network).
Australia Network is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s free to air international satellite television and online service, offering a rich
and diverse range of information and general programming. Australia Network is now available to more than 44 countries across Asia, the Pacific and Indian subcontinent.
